Introducing Quotrum: Configure-Price-Quote Built for Telecom

Meet Quotrum, the first CPQ tool designed from the ground up for telecommunications companies. Built by telecom professionals for telecom professionals.

We’ve written before about why telecom quoting is broken and what it actually costs. Today we’re shipping the fix: Quotrum, a configure-price-quote platform built from scratch for telecommunications.

Not adapted from a generic CPQ platform. Not a customized ERP module. Not spreadsheets with macros. Telecom-native from day one.

What Quotrum Does

Quotrum’s data model starts with how telecom actually works, not with a generic product catalog that someone tried to wedge services into. The system knows DIA, broadband, MPLS, SD-WAN, voice, and 50+ other service types, each with the right pricing models, equipment requirements, and configuration options. It understands access methods (fiber, coax, fixed wireless, satellite, copper) and knows how they affect pricing and delivery timelines per location. Private networking topologies like hub-and-spoke, point-to-point, and any-to-any MPLS are priced based on actual network design, not unit-cost multiplication. Contract structures handle the split between NRC and MRC, term commit discounts, volume pricing, and distance-based transport charges.

That foundation comes from over a decade of ISP operations and network architecture. We encoded what experienced presales engineers carry in their heads so the software handles the arithmetic while you handle the design.

Here’s what a 50-site quote looks like in practice:

  1. Paste or upload 50 addresses. The system geocodes, checks serviceability, and flags anything that needs manual follow-up. About 30 seconds.
  2. Configure the services: pick DIA or MPLS, set per-site bandwidth, add private networking, choose contract terms. Maybe 60 seconds.
  3. Review access type recommendations per location, override a few where you know the local build economics better than the database, and add any site-specific CPE. Another 30 seconds.
  4. Generate the quote. Pricing calculated, summary rollups built, line-item detail available, exportable to PDF or your CRM. Instant.

When the customer asks “what about fiber at half those sites?”, you change 25 access types and regenerate in 15 seconds. Every price calculation is traceable. You can inspect any line item and see exactly how the number was derived. No black boxes.

How It’s Built

Quotrum gives you smart defaults but lets you override anything. The interface is fast and clean because presales engineers move between technical discussions and quote generation all day. You shouldn’t have to fight a wizard to do your job.

Scenario modeling is where this pays off most. Because generating a quote costs seconds instead of days, you can freely explore alternatives. Try MPLS vs. SD-WAN overlay. Compare 36-month against 60-month terms across the whole portfolio. Run hub-and-spoke against full mesh. Quotrum becomes a design surface, not a bottleneck.

The platform covers the full quoting workflow: bulk location import with geocoding and availability checks, service configuration across 50+ telecom service types, network topology design with intelligent pricing, automated rate-table calculations with term and volume discounts, professional PDF output with CRM integration, and automatic version tracking so you never lose a revision. Built-in validation catches duplicate locations, incompatible service combinations, missing components, and bandwidth configurations that exceed access capacity, the errors that slip through at hour 90 of a manual quote.

Behind the interface, we’ve written 2,400+ automated tests across five major development phases. This is production-grade software for a process that directly affects your margin.

Who Should Use It

If you’re an ISP or carrier quoting multi-site deployments with diverse service requirements, and your current process involves spreadsheets, tribal knowledge, or generic CPQ software that doesn’t understand telecom pricing, Quotrum replaces all of that. It’s built for presales engineers who want to spend their time on solution design and customer consultation instead of formula verification and copy-paste.

The results we’re seeing from early users: quote generation that previously took 40-60 hours now finishes in minutes. Same presales teams handling 3-5x more RFPs without new headcount. Pricing errors caught by automated validation before they erode margin.

On the Roadmap

We’re building based on real customer feedback. Near-term priorities include deeper CRM and billing system integration, quote success analytics with margin analysis across your deal history, multi-user workflows with approval chains, and expanded service type coverage. If you have opinions on what matters most, we want to hear them.
